Just like Utility companies when they re on to a good thing – direct debits they can’t help abusing it – the same with Pubs and club owners they can’ help abusing the Jazz Jam session.

This is now being used as the main form of presentation of Jazz at the base level.

Lowering the standard of play by not paying for the better musicians.

The use of a house band calls for base level of Jazz – and it is often exactly that – relying on the session’s players to provide the highlights – for nothing while the house band is paid.

This state is even worse for the public and for Jazz itself for in many jam sessions the main house group disappear in the second half to leave what amounts to a shambles undermining Jazz itself.
