Electronic Music No.35 (America) by William Lennox was started at the University of Miami Electronic Music Studios. This major compostion was a development of the group of compositions under the name Electronic Music No.31.
After a short visit to Europe the composer returned to find the tapes (2 inch production tapes fully named and stored) had been destroyed.
An apology by the Director W.Hipp was issued.
Though the work started well as a visiting composer, gradually over a period of months it was clear - there were forces out side Miami trying to undermine my position there - my belief is that this came from individuals at MIT though earlier connections at the Utrecht EMS. There were people at Miami who wanted to help (and systems for Electronic MusicNo.47 were developed at the Maths center) - I was simply a composer who was trying to get to compose - but the forces in academia had other priorities,
Either way this in 1992 was the last connection with Universities.
