Electronic Music No.6 by William Lennox consists of 2 compositions No.6(i) subtitled Mass, and No.6(ii).
Electronic Music No.6a was first given a public broadcast by RIA in Italy in 1972.
Electronic Music No.6(ii) was given its first concert rendering at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London in 1977.
The Mass is in 2 parts the first section is dramatic and explorative of the form, the second part follows a process of resolution.
Electronic Music No.6(ii) is technically a classical electronic music composition - that is using the techniques involved at the beginning of the development of the form. It should be noted that the composer can claim direct musical lineage to the Inventor of the medium - Eimert.
No.6(ii) celebrates this position and is a powerfully expressive fine example of this form and was particularly appreciated by the audience at the ICA.
