The composers status with the University of Utrecht reached a critical stage in 1979. Utrecht had already decided to relieve itself of the cost of studios of electronic Music and had prepared the way by renaming it the Institute for Sonology. This was interpreted by the directors as a means of putting pressure on composers to reduce their status in favour of scientific work.
This inevitably lead to seeking the support of the Law to protect the position of the composer in a studio of electronic music.
The composer through the state system was given the Solicitors B&R of Bilthoven, but they failed to inform the composers that they were themselves also working for the Univ. of Utrecht - so no progress was made.
The studio had also already started to complain about the costs of storage of the original compositions ( on one inch tape) and were threatening in the long term to dispose of them. The composer removed all his composition from storage and replaced them with empty tapes.
The compositions involved - 1-7 are at present being re recorded and enhanced , copies will be sent to Utrecht.
